Make Your Own Jewelry

Jewellery is an important part of an outfit, people say it makes the oufit. It adds class and elegance to complete your look. You can buy jewellery, but I feel making jewellery is just as good. You can make it to the style you want whether its Classy, Simple or to stand out with vibrant costume jewellery.

Making jewellery can be done by anyone, due to the range of materials and equipment. Making jewellery is also a great idea for a gift, whether it’s for you friend, mum or girlfriend you can make it to suit them.

If your new to making jewellery and want to start, here are a few starting points:

There are loads of ways to make your own jewellery, whether its a ring, necklace, bracelet etc. As a beginner I wouldn’t spend much on equipment, remember practice makes perfect, so just use simple materials and when you feel confident about doing this experiment further.

The easiest start would be to work with beads, beads being a cheap option and very easy to make bracelets with. Using different sizes and colours of beads will allow you to experiment and make a design your own. The best place to shop for beads would be a local craft shop, craft shops will supply you with alot of different styles of beads, small coloured plastic beads, tumble chip or cat-eyed beads, porcelain, wooden or metal beads.

Another good way to shop for materials would be to go down an enviromental road, shop in charity shops or at car boot or jumble sales. Buy old vintage pieces for cheap and blend them together to make your own unique style.
